October Inspiration Station Blog Hop!!

Head over to the Inspiration Station blog to follow along! https://inspirationstationchallenge.blogspot.com/

Gah!!! This card was so fun to make!!! (tutorial photos are pending a technical error and will be up later today, fingers crossed, but in the meantime, I will still walk you through the steps to make this card).

This is a 5 x 7 pop up card. I cut a 5″ wide strip off of a sheet of 12″ purple cardstock and scored and folded it in half at 7″. This made a top folding easel card with one side at 7″ and the other side at 5″.

I then cut a 5 x 7″ panel from some purple Halloween cardstock that had a picture of a wrought iron fence on it.

Taking inspiration from, believe it or not, the white pegboard behind the people in the inspiration photo, I adhered some black on white polka dot cardstock to the “inside” of the card base on the 5 x 7″ side. I mean, it’s a Halloween card, so there has to be something unexpected lol.

I folded the 5″ length of the panel in half and glued that portion to the back of the Halloween cardstock.

This allows the decorative Halloween layer to lay flat, but also pop up because it’s not glued down completely to the top of the card base.

The cluster of pumpkins that acts as a brake for the pop-up is from an old 1960’s learning toy and it actually already had foam on the back.

I stamped the “HAPPY HALLOWEEN” on top of it with Stampin’ Up! ink in Blackberry Bliss. You can head over to the Stampin’ Up! store by clicking on “shopping links” at the top of this page–this color ink is my new gothic, spooky go-too color, it’s fabulous! It’s the new black as far as I’m concerned. The couple on the card are from Tim Holtz’s paper dolls. I used some Jack-o-lantern head stickers over their own faces. Pro tip: because the Jack-o-lantern faces are stickers and I didn’t want them sticking to everything-just the heads of the paper dolls, I used my static bag for embossing over the backs of them, after I had stuck them to the paper dolls. This takes down the sticky backs. The black cat was from the same sticker pack as the Jack-o-lantern faces.

The bats are stamped in Staz-On black ink, and they are just a super old wood block stamp I have. “night of fright” is also stamped with the Blackberry Bliss ink. The two sentiments on this card are from an old Stamper’s Anonymous stamp set.

I hope you like this card!! I love pop-ups!! If you are inspired to create your own pop-up card with this theme, don’t forget to tag me @scrappystampthefunup and leave me a comment here on the blog. I would love to see your creations!

Altenew and Hero Arts Colaboration and Giveaway featuring the Altenew Stampwheel!! ($400 in total prizes!!)

Head over to the Altenew Card Blog, where the blog hop will be hosted – https://wp.me/p6Dps1-iYe as well as the Hero Arts blog to follow along: https://heroarts.com/ If you came her from Ilina Crouse’s blog https://ilinacrouse.blogspot.com/2023/09/altenew-x-hero-arts-stampwheel.html Hi! And thank you for visiting The Peper Creative LLC! Woohoo! I am beyond honored to be repping two amazing companies for this blog hop!!! So… here’s what I did!!!

First let’s discuss colors. If you know me, you know I LOVE color! To get an idea of my love for color in projects, check out my previous blog over at:

https://stampthefunup.wordpress.com/

My autumn palette this year is from the Altenew Crisp Dye inks in Ruby Red, Canyon Clay, Limeade, Lime, Desert Night, Deep Iris, and Rhodalite. Check out other perfect seasonal palettes I’ve curated over at my Pinterest.

This Autumn card project is made on a 5 x7 card base from Classic Crest solar white 80lb cardstock in a standard book fold. The panel is 4 x 5 3/4 cardstock from 110lb Classic Crest solar white cardstock (It was trimmed down to the finished size after I did the blending.) I love how the Stampwheel is the third hand I always needed for crafting: it holds cardstock perfectly for working!

Now, rainbows aren’t only for April showers when done with different tones of color. So, I knew I wanted to make this background a blended Autumn rainbow. But, to give it a meadow like feel, I cut a stencil out of scrap cardstock and, flipping it over and around as I added every color, I was able to get some pretty perfect rolling meadow hills.

To make your own stencils out of cardstock, use 110lb or heavier cardstock.

When I’m using the bed of the Stampwheel to hold a panel I’m working on, I use the top plate as a palette. I’m a painter by trade so this is awesome for blending and inking like I do with paint on a traditional palette.

Next, using the BOLD PRINTS Flower Garden 6 x 6 cling stamp from Hero Arts, I inked it up with the Rhodalite ink and pressed it over the blended meadow background. The stamp comes on a large sheet of acrylic so I left that on it so I could press it down with my breyer.

That was it for this quick, simple yet effective art panel for the front of the card. I adhered it to the card base with liquid glue.

The bed of the Stampwheel cleans up easily-I used just a spritz of water to clean up the crisp dye ink mess from blending and stamping.

Next, for the embellishment, I used the Florals Mum STAMP & CUT set from Hero Arts, stamping the mum on 110lb classic crest cardstock with Versamark embossing ink.

Now, I love combining opposites with my artwork, so I thought it would be a cool contrast to the bold background if I had a subtle centerpiece embellishment. However, I thought it would be even cooler to do an ombre metallic look to a subtle flower, so I layered Altenew embossing powder in Platinum and Antique Gold over the image and heat it with the heat gun.

It’s interesting how, individually, these powders are bold and attention grabbing, but when layered next to each other, they kind of tone each other town and create a more subtle, natural shine.

I layered the inks on the stamp to get an ombre finish of colors to the flower.

And then cut it out with the matching die.

The Stampwheel holds the base of your project firmly for perfect placement of embellishments.

Finally, using scraps of Altenew Brushed Gold card stock I added the sentiments, stamped in the Rhodalite ink.

The Stampwheel is amazing for holding small scraps for layering up sentiments.

I hope you like this project! These techniques would be great for standalone looks as well! I can’t wait to see how this project and these items inspired you, so please tag me on Instagram @scrappystampthefunup.
