November Inspiration Station Blog Hop!
Yeay, it’s November crafty time!! This month’s inspiration photo just has all the fall feels…
My project this month is set on a 5 x 7″ cardstock base in Very Vanilla cardstock from Stampin’ Up!.
I used some good ol’ fashioned wood block stamps in my Stampin’ Up! ink pads to stamp around the area of the card base that will be exposed from shifting the layers to the bottom right. I will never get rid of my wood block stamps–still love them so much!!
I knew I wanted to use layers on this card, but I thought, layers don’t always have to be in the middle of the card. I absolutely love how setting these layers down into the lower right corner gives so much more structure to this card. The layers are also from Stampin’ Up!
Now, I try not to show retired Stampin’ Up! products, but when it comes to holiday crafting, I don’t hold back, because there are so many sets out there and it’s a shame, they retire every year. So, keep in mind, brand doesn’t matter, you can re-create this leaf design with any leave die-set. I, however, did use a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp and die set. So, to create the feel of falling and piled up leaves, I first chose cardstock and matching inks that recalled the colors from the inspiration photo. I then stamped and die-cut as many leaves as I could handle, because, even if I don’t use them all on this project, I can use them on another.
I really wanted to balance the shiny gold dots with leaves on this card, so I chose to run the pile of leaves alongside left of the layers and placed them so a bit of the dark orange layer showed. First, I laid down the solid leaves and used press and seal to help me keep them in place for glueing.
Once i removed the press and seal, I tucked in the cut-out smaller leaves to bulk up the pile of leaves. I loved this!!
With the leaves set, all that was left was to center the sentiment in coordinating dye ink on the right-side f the card face to give some finishing balance.
I hope you were inspired by this project! And I hope you join in the Inspiration Station Blog challenge this month! You can hit the blog here to check it out and all the other monthly projects:

October Inspiration Station Blog Hop!!

Gah!!! This card was so fun to make!!! (tutorial photos are pending a technical error and will be up later today, fingers crossed, but in the meantime, I will still walk you through the steps to make this card).
This is a 5 x 7 pop up card. I cut a 5″ wide strip off of a sheet of 12″ purple cardstock and scored and folded it in half at 7″. This made a top folding easel card with one side at 7″ and the other side at 5″.
I then cut a 5 x 7″ panel from some purple Halloween cardstock that had a picture of a wrought iron fence on it.
Taking inspiration from, believe it or not, the white pegboard behind the people in the inspiration photo, I adhered some black on white polka dot cardstock to the “inside” of the card base on the 5 x 7″ side. I mean, it’s a Halloween card, so there has to be something unexpected lol.
I folded the 5″ length of the panel in half and glued that portion to the back of the Halloween cardstock.
This allows the decorative Halloween layer to lay flat, but also pop up because it’s not glued down completely to the top of the card base.
The cluster of pumpkins that acts as a brake for the pop-up is from an old 1960’s learning toy and it actually already had foam on the back.
I stamped the “HAPPY HALLOWEEN” on top of it with Stampin’ Up! ink in Blackberry Bliss. You can head over to the Stampin’ Up! store by clicking on “shopping links” at the top of this page–this color ink is my new gothic, spooky go-too color, it’s fabulous! It’s the new black as far as I’m concerned. The couple on the card are from Tim Holtz’s paper dolls. I used some Jack-o-lantern head stickers over their own faces. Pro tip: because the Jack-o-lantern faces are stickers and I didn’t want them sticking to everything-just the heads of the paper dolls, I used my static bag for embossing over the backs of them, after I had stuck them to the paper dolls. This takes down the sticky backs. The black cat was from the same sticker pack as the Jack-o-lantern faces.
The bats are stamped in Staz-On black ink, and they are just a super old wood block stamp I have. “night of fright” is also stamped with the Blackberry Bliss ink. The two sentiments on this card are from an old Stamper’s Anonymous stamp set.
I hope you like this card!! I love pop-ups!! If you are inspired to create your own pop-up card with this theme, don’t forget to tag me @scrappystampthefunup and leave me a comment here on the blog. I would love to see your creations!
